Cosmic Topologies
I have been fascinated by space and our place in it for many years and remain in awe of the infinite complexity found within the universe & humanity. These are process compositions and studies developed from plates from the NASA Atlas of Galaxies Useful for Measuring the Cosmological Distance Scale monograph and glass X-rays I found in the early 2000’s at a garage sale in Venice, California. Many years later, I have finally begun to assimilate these images. “Cosmic Topologies” seeks to explore the interconnectedness of all existence suggesting an architecture of cosmic and biological patterns and aspirations while transforming these celestial and corporeal images into an experiential journey through time and space.

Into the Boundless.
Years I ventured inward,
Seeking peace.
Calm within the storm.
Yearning to connect.
This work; a collage of a long, jagged road
Many years in the making
I wandered, lost, hollowed by doubt.
Bereft of hope.
Skeptical I revert.
Yet…
Love has a funny way of working itself into the cracks of our lives.
Like water turning to ice and back again.
In the silence between words.
In the darkness between those sublime moments of precious light.
The expanding universe stretches into us.
Into thought’s sharp edges,
Into nature’s soft bloom,
Into the boundless beauty we are.
